The behind-the-scenes wizards at Avient Corporation have developed an all-new composite heat release technology that knocks barrel heat out cold. That’s more than a pun…it’s a fact.

by the Shoot ON staff

We had been hearing about a revolutionary new firearm barrel technology from Avient Corporation for well over a year. The claims certainly piqued our interest — rifle barrels that shed heat faster than anything ever developed in the history of long arms. It is a barrel concept brought to reality by the brilliant engineers who have been behind several technological innovations and manufacturing processes that you never really hear about from the consumer side of the marketplace. That is because Avient specializes in material and process engineering that quietly assists their manufacturing clients in bringing novel concepts to market. In short, Avient delivers advanced solutions for outdoor and shooting sports manufacturers.

The new barrel composite heat release technology we’d been hearing about takes the increasingly popular carbon-fiber-wrapped steel barrel concept and pumps it up to the next level by introducing another material into the manufacturing process and design that addresses the problem of heat — something competitive shooters are all too familiar with.

Recently we got to the bottom of all this when we sat down with Yves Cordeau, Technology Manager of Avient’s Outdoor High Performance Solutions Division. If you want to get up to speed on what we believe will be the next big thing in precision firearm technology, check out this interview as Yves runs through this exciting new concept and explains the science of the next-generation gun barrels coming to a store near you…
