For those of you who have been around the shooting bench more than a few times, riflescope mounting is a second-hand skill set. For those of you who have never done this before — relying instead on your local dealer to drop that new scope onto your gun — we’ve put together a soup-to-nuts video on how to do it the correct way.

While the fundamentals of scope mounting are fairly straightforward, there are some nuances, tricks, and tools of the trade you should consider before doing this for the first time.
