Ruger and Dead Air Silencers, two powerhouses in the shooting and outdoor industry, are giving away one suppressor and firearm package a week for the next 12 weeks. No kidding!
by the Shoot ON staff
Ask anyone professionally involved in the outdoor and shooting sports and they will tell you that the industry has been rather suppressed over the last couple of years. Coming off the “things are getting scary” times of just a few years ago, when people who never even considered owning a gun were jostling shoulder-to-shoulder at gun counters across America to get something…anything…they thought they could use to defend themselves, the difference today could not be more black-and-white.
My friend, who owns a modest retail gun store in town, recently explained that “I’m just holding anchor until the tide comes back in.”
That is certainly the attitude of many in this business today, although there are a few manufacturers who are breaking from the pack in these challenging times — companies that aren’t afraid to step forward in unison to make things happen.
Ruger is a good example.
Last year, when everyone bemoaned the difficulties of fallen demand in the personal defense handgun segment, Ruger introduced a new 9mm semi-auto striker-fired pistol into an already saturated market. But they didn’t go it alone. Enter the Ruger RXM — a new take on a classic that combined Ruger’s well-known penchant for quality with the talents of another powerhouse name in the firearms world: Magpul Industries.
For the RXM project, Magpul leveraged its expertise in polymer technology to develop an interchangeable grip to house Ruger’s new Fire Control Insert system, which sits at the heart of the Ruger RXM. In bringing together two respected and proven brands, Ruger lit a bright wick in an otherwise dim landscape with the RXM.
And earlier this year, Ruger did it again. This time, with a mega-name in the suppressor marketplace: Dead Air Silencers.

While having only just eclipsed its first decade in suppressor manufacturing, Dead Air leads the category in hard-use, advanced suppressor design and material technology. The company’s Sandman-series, for instance, is the go-to brand for those seeking heavy-duty, built-to-take-it suppressors that span commercial to LE and military applications. We tested, over the last several months, the all-new Dead Air Sandman X and Mojave 45 suppressors, featuring the company’s innovative additive manufacturing technology and Triskelion gas management system, and appreciated the build quality and exceptional sound performance of both.
With Dead Air Silencers’ proven resume in advancing suppressor technology and performance, it’s little wonder that Ruger tapped Dead Air to develop an all-new, fresh from the ground up suppressor system optimized to work with a select suite of Ruger firearms, beginning with the rimfire and .30-caliber classes. The result is the RXD 22Ti and RXD 30Ti suppressors co-branded by Dead Air Silencers and Ruger.

We say “beginning with” because, according to Ruger’s initial April 2025 press release announcing the new RXD suppressors, “The RXD 22Ti and RXD 30Ti are the first in this purpose-driven lineup…” Can we expect the RXD-series line to expand in the near future? That would seem to be a safe bet and a good thing because suppressors have seen a steady uptick in popularity ever since the ATF’s new electronic application system came online, and little wonder given that the time between application and approval has dropped from nearly a year to under a week in most cases. That has been enough to move many shooters and hunters off the bubble, and that’s a good thing — both for a shooting industry weighed by a negative economic swing and for shooters and hunters appealing for greater access to hearing safety technology.
The downside, though, is that the onerous $200 tax stamp is still in place.
But not for long.
As everyone knows, the NFA tax stamp is going to meet its demise (hopefully its permanent, never-to-be-revived-again demise) beginning in 2026. That will likely unleash a flurry of suppressor purchases across the country — possibly even an eventual race to the bottom in terms of competitive pricing.
In short, suppressors are going to be The Thing in 2026, and to celebrate, Dead Air Silencers and Ruger have launched the Stamp Out the Tax Giveaway, which Shoot ON is honored to host.
Per Dead Air’s press release announcing the Stamp Out the Tax Giveaway:
Dead Air Silencers and Ruger Firearms are teaming up to celebrate the end of the $200 tax stamp fee and to introduce the new RXD Series. Beginning October 13, 2025, and running through December 31, 2025, the Stamp Out the Tax Giveaway will award one Ruger firearm paired with a Dead Air RXD suppressor to a lucky winner every week.
This 12-week celebration highlights the engineering behind the RXD project: a ground-up program built to deliver purpose-driven suppressors that perfectly complement Ruger platforms. The RXD Series is a full design effort uniting Dead Air’s advanced baffle and materials technologies with Ruger’s decades of firearm innovation. The result: lightweight, maintainable suppressors engineered for real-world accuracy and durability.
Each week’s prize package will spotlight a different Ruger and Dead Air pairing — from hunting-ready bolt actions to the reliable Mark IV rimfire pistol — and will debut with a Dead Air RXD 30Ti matched to a Ruger American Gen II chambered in .308 Winchester. The RXD 30Ti brings Triskelion and Nomad baffle technologies, an integrated E-Brake for reduced recoil, and broad HUB mounting compatibility for precision and hard-use performance. The Ruger American Gen II delivers cold hammer-forged accuracy, threaded compatibility for suppressor use, Ruger’s proven bedding and safety systems, and the modern ergonomics hunters and marksmen expect.
