Dead Air Silencers Announces 5.56 NATO Patrol Suppressor

Dead Air Silencers has introduced the Dead Air CT5P suppressor, the first model in its new Dead Air Defense line for law enforcement and military applications. Developed around semi-automatic duty rifles chambered in 5.56 NATO, the CT5P emphasizes compact dimensions, reduced weight, flash control, and lower backpressure.

The suppressor draws on design work from Dead Air’s Lazarus 6 and Sandman X series. Additive manufacturing and a fixed mounting interface allow the CT5P to eliminate the rear HUB mounting feature, resulting in a shorter, lighter package intended for hard-use patrol and defense roles.

Dead Air says the Triskelion baffle system increases surface area within the suppressor’s primary gas channel, slowing gas movement while its Gas Management System vents high-pressure gas around the main channel and forward of the muzzle. The design is intended to limit changes in bolt velocity and reduce gas directed toward the shooter on both direct-impingement and piston-operated rifles.

Flash suppression is another priority. According to Dead Air, the CT5P reduces visible muzzle flash and sparking on 5.56 NATO rifles with barrels as short as 10.5 inches. The exterior geometry also increases surface area for heat dissipation while reducing reflected light.

The company further states that the suppressor’s sound pressure level falls below the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s 1910.95 impulse-noise standard. As with any suppressor performance claim, actual sound, flash, and gas behavior will vary with ammunition, barrel length, host firearm, and environmental conditions.

The CT5P is positioned for users who need a compact suppressor that adds minimal forward weight to a duty rifle. Its 13-oz. direct-thread configuration and 5.5-inch overall length should be especially relevant where maneuverability, extended low-ready use, and reduced muzzle concussion are priorities.
