Cold Steel Introduces Spetsnaz® Entrenching Shovel Series

Irving, TX – Cold Steel, manufacturer and innovator of purpose-built knives and blade tools for everyday carry, tactical, hunting and outdoor applications, is now offering a series of entrenching tools suitable for multiple field uses and survival scenarios.

The new Special Forces Shovel and the Trench Shovel comprise the Spetsnaz^® Shovel Series. These robust tools are modeled after the Soviet-era Spetsnaz military entrenching tool.

Suitable for a broad range of tasks—from digging trenches and pits, clearing vegetation and building field shelters. These shovels are built for hard work in the most austere environments. Each shovel includes a hardwood (Special Forces Spetsnaz Shovel) or American Ash (Spetsnaz Trench Shovel) handle with a contoured end for digging support and to ensure a no-slip grip when lifting sod or swinging a cut. The blades are comprised of 2mm thick medium carbon steel with three sharpened edges to easily slip into compact soil or to cut deep into branches and tough vegetation.

Overall length of the Spetsnaz Trench Shovel is 30 inches with a weight of 36.3 ounces. This model features a slightly larger shovel head than the Special Forces Spetsnaz Shovel for more aggressive digging operations. The Special Forces Spetsnaz Shovel weighs 25.7 ounces and has an overall length of 19.68 inches. An optional sheath is available for the Special Forces Spetsnaz Shovel. The sheath is made of durable Cor-Ex™ and comes with an integral belt loop for easy carry.
