Springfield Armory has expanded its Model 2020 bolt-action lineup with three new Model 2020 Waypoint SG-100 rifle configurations. Offered in .308 Win., 7mm PRC and .300 Win. Mag., the rifles pair the Waypoint’s carbon-fiber stock with Cerakote’s SG-100 coating for a more tactile gripping surface.

The new variants use a bead-blasted carbon-fiber stock from AG Composites finished with SG-100 Cerakote. Cerakote calls the non-slip ceramic coating “Super-Grip®,” describing it as having a rubberized texture intended to improve purchase on the rifle.
Metal components receive a subdued black treatment. Both the fluted 416 stainless steel barrel and stainless steel action wear H-164 Cerakote, while the threaded muzzle is fitted with Springfield Armory’s SA Radial Brake.

The SG-100 treatment represents a functional change rather than a major redesign of the Waypoint platform. A textured stock surface can be particularly relevant on a hunting rifle, where rain, gloves and changing field conditions can make consistent contact with a conventional smooth stock more difficult.
The three chamberings also cover a broad range of common hunting applications. The 20-inch .308 Win. configuration offers the shortest barrel of the group, while the 24-inch 7mm PRC and .300 Win. Mag. rifles provide long-action options for shooters seeking magnum-class cartridges.
“The Model 2020’s combination of custom-grade features at production rifle pricing has established it as a premier bolt-action hunting rifle,” said Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory. “Building on this tradition are these newest variants, featuring a subdued black finish on the metal paired with the enhanced grip of the SG-100 coating on the stock.”
MSRP is $1,995 for each of the three SG-100-equipped rifles
