The Archery Trade Association wrapped up its annual trade show in Indianapolis, IN this past week and the floor was full of new products for 2018. The future looks bright for everyone who loves archery.

TenPoint Crossbows – Stealth NTX and Nitro X

In the world of crossbows, one brand stands above them all. TenPoint. TenPoint has long been considered the best of the best in the crossbow arena. Everyone else is trying to catch up to their designs, technology and quality. 2018 proves that this will continue with the introduction of several new models. For the traditional frame, the Stealth NTX changes the game, as it is narrower than any other crossbow TenPoint has ever made. It measures a diminituve 6 inches when cocked. It can shoot a blistering 410 fps and delivering 138 FP Kinetic energy and weighing only 7.3 pounds. The Elite package includes EVO-X Marksman Scope, ACUDraw PRO cocking device, Quiver, Three EVO-X CenterPunch premium carbon arrows and 100 grain field points. It also includes a noise dampening system and a TenPoint hard case to protect your investment. This is certainly a crossbow for now and the future.

For those who prefer a reverse limb configuration, TenPoint has you covered also with the Nitro X. Featuring new SLING-SHOT and Vector Quad cable technologies, the reverse-draw Nitro X measures an ultra-narrow 7-inches wide and delivers a devastating speed up to 440 feet per second. Coming in at 7.8 pounds, it is on the heavy side, but the balance makes it feel much lighter. The entire crossbow measures only 30.7 inches and carries a 16.5 inch power-stroke, enabling the Nitro X to deliver a 425 grain arrow at 420 fps. The Nitro X also comes in the Elite package and will be available later in the spring.

Crossbow enthusiasm has not waned in recent years, and advancement in archery technology is leaping in this market. The TenPoint Stealth is a great buy and a great product.

Wicked Ridge Invader X4 Crossbow

Wicked Ridge is fast positioning itself as the Premier brand for the introductory market of Crossbows. It is produced with the same precision as their parent company, TenPoint, but at a price point that helps introduce newcomers into the crossbow game.

The new Invader X4 is a great beginner crossbow and one for the experienced also. Weighing only 6.3 pounds and sending arrows at 360 fps out of its split limb design, the Invader X4 is a great crossbow. Designed, engineered, manufactured, and tested right here in America, Wicked Ridge truly embodies all the qualities you’ve come to expect from a company that pioneered many of the world’s finest crossbow technologies. The Invader X4 will not disappoint.

FireDisc:

Traveling hunters and anglers are always struggling with feeding themselves. Gas stoves, fire wood, and other options are really not very feasible. Until now. The FireDisc is a premium portable propane cooker. FireDisc is an extremely well-built, high-performance cooking device designed for outdoorsmen. It gives you maximum portability and cooking versatility but with minimum effort. Its simple dished design allows for multiple cooking surfaces at once. With the heat centered in the middle, the edges offer a controlled slower-cooking surface. Also, it allows you to deep fry without having to fill the entire disc with oil. The FireDisc is portable and easy to store. In a few seconds it breaks down into three parts and sets up in seconds.

One of the biggest features of this full-size cooker is that it accepts the small disposable propane bottles and will burn for approximately two full hours on one cylinder. But for those choosing, it can also be adapted to larger propane tanks. With a host of accessories, this is one cooker that you will want to have at your hunting or fishing camp. The FireDisc is available in a 24” and a 36” model with taller legs being the only difference. It is also available in both red and black.

NAP Bowfishing Arrow

The problem has been solved! For decades the same issue has faced bowfishermen all over the country. We shoot through a fish, grab the arrow, spin the tip, rotate the barbs, pull the arrow out and tighten the tip. This process has cost tens of thousands of lost tips and useless arrows. No longer! New Archery Products has developed a new arrow that will no longer require you to twist the tip.  Press down on the tip, the barbs reverse, spin the barbs back and they are locked into shooting position. Total Game Changer! This arrow comes complete- solid fiberglass shaft, string attachment, nock and tip all included for reasonable prices.

Hunters who love to shoot fish in the off season now have a new arrow to put in their quiver that will make follow up shots faster and lost tips a thing of the past. NAP has done it again.

Delta McKenzie Targets

Delta McKenzie is introducing a new design of their popular 3D deer targets, the Baby Daddy, Hoosier Daddy and Big Daddy targets for every need. All three feature 100% solid SELF HEALING foam construction that allows easy arrow pull but lasting thousands of shots from crossbows, recurves, or compound bows. They are unlike other 3D targets that have separate legs that wobble and come loose when shooting or moving, causing the targets to fall apart after use. The Daddy line by Delta McKenzie offers patented horizontal joint technology that allows for fast, easy setup that won’t fall apart when moving the target. The body is designed so the thick foam is where you need it most, the vitals.

At first look it appears distorted, but when shooting, the targets appear as any other 3D target. I especially liked the scoring rings on one side to help with 3D tournament preparation and vitals on the other side for hunting preparation. The Daddy line has no vitals to replace. Due to the horizontal joint technology, the entire body is replaced into the legs.

For those who really like the realism, the antlers are designed to slide into a solid “T” shape plastic form preventing the dreaded fall out other targets suffer.

MTM Case Guard

The most affordable of all protection companies, MTM Case Guard offers all of the protection archers need. I especially like their arrow cases. Rather than the round ones of the competitor that rolls around the bed of your truck, the flat cases protect your arrows and keep them still in the truck. Available in four different sizes, from the basic traveler, compact and larger Arrow Plus case, there is a case for every archer. With foam that will hold the tiniest arrow or the thick line cutters for 3D shooters, the arrow cases by MTM Case Guard have you protected.

Crossbow enthusiast need not worry- all of these are also offered for you with smaller sizes to accommodate the smaller arrows used by crossbow shooters.

Wildlife Research Center

Deer hunters are a particular lot. Some refuse to try anything new, while others are always looking for the next best thing. If you are a scrape hunter, Wildlife Research Center has just developed a high output scrape dripper that dispenses the scrape formula faster than ever before, making the scrape hot and ready for your encounter.

Simply fill the bottle, hang it and get ready for the action. The high output means that bucks scent checking the scrape will come faster to investigate and offer more of a chance for the encounter. This is designed more for the absentee hunter who cannot get to his place often enough. But for the weekend he is there, the hunter is increasing his odds of seeing the buck he’s been chasing. Dispensing 4 ounces of scrape juice in 7-12 days, this will keep scrapes hot and fresh.
