Whether it’s for adding a red dot optic, a suppressor, or simply a change in mission, you might need to remove that factory rear sight. Here’s how to do it the easy way.

We’re fortunate that more and more handgun manufacturers are designing their pistols to accommodate red dot optics right out of the box (issues with mounting compatibility notwithstanding). Nevertheless, hiccups do happen. For example (and in our case), the chosen optic would secure to the slide/adapter plate, yet the design of the gun’s factory rear sight did not permit it to seat onto the adapter. The only solution…remove the rear sight.

That is the focus of this video.
Maybe you’ve successfully installed your new red dot but the factory iron sights are too low to be visible through the optic and you have no backup aiming solution. Taller front and rear sights are the answer, but you still have the problem of how to remove the original sights and install the new.
Another example, you want to swap the plain iron sights for tritium night sights. Again, same issue.
There are several ways you can remove drift-adjustable (dovetail joint) sights from a pistol slide, and we’ll show you the easiest, most cost-effective way to do it. Furthermore, this tool can also be used to quickly drift your rear sight left or right for windage adjustment at the range.
